Uralac 7106 X-65 is a premium acrylic polyol resin developed by Covestro, specially designed for two-component polyurethane (2K PU) coating systems. With approximately 65% solids in xylene, the product provides a clear, glossy coating film with excellent weather resistance and long-term non-yellowing performance under harsh environmental conditions.
Its unique polyol structure helps create coatings with high mechanical strength, smooth surface, strong light reflection, and a deep visual effect. Uralac 7106 X-65 is regarded as an ideal choice for automotive and motorcycle topcoats, industrial coatings, and high-grade wood finishes.
When combined with Desmodur isocyanates such as Ultra Z4470, N3300, N3390, and N75, the product forms a stable 2K PU system with outstanding adhesion and long-lasting gloss retention.
Key features:
- The coating features a high-gloss finish, with gloss levels measured at 60° reaching 95–100%, creating a bright, transparent surface with natural depth and clarity. Beyond its striking appearance, the paint maintains excellent color stability, resisting yellowing or discoloration even under prolonged exposure to UV radiation or high temperatures.
- Thanks to its outstanding weather resistance, proven through an 800-hour QUV test with a ΔE of only 0.75, the coating consistently preserves its color durability and effectively prevents aging. Moreover, its thick and smooth film ensures high coverage, a dense and solid surface, and minimal surface defects, delivering a refined and premium finish.
- With strong adhesion on various substrates such as metal, engineering plastics, wood, and PU primer coatings, the product is easily applicable across multiple industries. In addition, the paint demonstrates excellent compatibility with aromatic, ester, and ketone solvents, facilitating convenient dilution and application. This ensures stable viscosity, smooth leveling, and superior anti-sagging performance during spray coating.
1. PRODUCT APPLICATIONS
Uralac 7106 X-65 is a resin with a broad application range across various high-performance coating systems. In the automotive and motorcycle industries, it serves as a 2K PU topcoat binder, providing a mirror-like gloss finish, excellent color retention, and superior UV resistance.
For industrial coatings and equipment, the resin offers durable protection for machine frames, casings, and metal structures against weathering and environmental impacts. In the wood coatings sector, it forms a clear, non-yellowing film that enhances the natural wood grain. Additionally, Uralac 7106 X-65 is widely used in decorative coatings requiring thick films with high mechanical and chemical resistance as well as aesthetic appeal. Notably, when applied to engineering plastics such as PU, ABS, and PC, it exhibits excellent adhesion, improving surface durability and scratch resistance.
2. TECHNICAL NOTES
Uralac 7106 X-65 should be thinned with aromatic, ester, or ketone solvents, depending on application conditions and the desired evaporation rate. The product cures effectively when combined with Desmodur Ultra hardeners such as Z4470, N3300, N3390, or N75, following the recommended NCO:OH ratio.
For storage, keep the product in a dry, well-ventilated area at 5–30°C, away from direct sunlight, and ensure the container is tightly sealed after opening. The product must not be frozen below 0°C.
During use, wear protective gloves and safety goggles to avoid contact or inhalation of solvent vapors. The shelf life of the product is 6 months from the date of manufacture when properly stored. If the storage period exceeds the recommended duration, the product’s quality should be checked before use.
