MicroMedia™ is Bühler’s high-speed bead mill designed to process pigment and paste systems requiring nano-level fineness. The system integrates a compact grinding chamber, ultra-fine grinding media, and an optimized temperature control mechanism to maintain particle stability throughout the operation.
As a result, the final product achieves a uniform particle size distribution, free from agglomeration or overheating, ensuring optimal material efficiency. This is one of the featured technologies distributed by Vichem – the official Bühler distributor in Vietnam.
1. PRODUCT APPLICATIONS
MicroMedia™ is widely used in the production of digital printing inks, high-performance color pastes, automotive coatings, cosmetics, and advanced surface treatments requiring sub-micron dispersion. It is an ideal solution for organic pigments, metallic pigments, TiO₂, and high-reactivity materials that require tight control of particle size and fineness. It is particularly effective in electronics, advanced ceramics, and emerging functional materials.
2. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Operators must prepare paste with suitable viscosity and batch volume based on the chamber capacity. After feeding, adjust the rotation speed and recirculation pressure according to Bühler’s specifications. Monitor the slurry temperature to ensure it does not exceed the thermal decomposition point or deactivate pigment properties. After each batch, clean the grinding chamber and bead circuit with a compatible solvent to prevent residue build-up and cross-contamination between batches.
3. TECHNICAL NOTES
MicroMedia™ requires ultra-fine grinding media (0.05–0.5 mm), and the correct media must be selected for each specific paste system. Pastes with very high viscosity or large initial particle sizes should be pre-milled. The grinding chamber should be regularly inspected for wear and liner cleanliness. For optimal performance, pair with a recirculation filtration system and temperature control with ±1°C precision. Do not use with thermally unstable materials that react dangerously above 50°C.
