Description

The Trias mill utilizes a three-roll configuration—either with identical or variable speeds—to micronize materials and evenly distribute pigments in resin, coatings, or ink systems. Its design integrates precision-controlled cooling technology, automated safety mechanisms, and a user-friendly interface, ensuring enhanced productivity and processing accuracy. This is one of the key products distributed by Vichem – Bühler’s authorized distributor in Vietnam.

1. PRODUCT APPLICATIONS

Trias is widely used in the coatings, pigment paste, ink, engineered plastics, and cosmetics industries. It is particularly effective in dispersing high-agglomeration materials such as titanium dioxide (TiO₂), carbon black, metal oxides, and organic pigments. The system also meets production demands for masterbatch, electronic materials, and polymer systems such as epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic, and alkyd.

2. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Before grinding, accurately dose raw materials and ensure viscosity is within the recommended range. Begin with low-speed dispersion to pre-wet the material, then gradually increase to the optimal preset speed range. Adjust the gap between the rolls depending on the material type: narrow gaps for fine pigments and wider gaps for high-viscosity polymers. Monitor grinding pressure and roll temperature during operation to prevent overload. After each batch or shift, clean the roll surfaces using an appropriate solvent to maintain equipment longevity.

3. TECHNICAL NOTES

Trias operates best with materials having a stable viscosity range of 5,000–1,000,000 cP to ensure effective shear and dispersion. For volatile or solvent-rich compounds, roll speed and surface temperature must be tightly controlled to prevent fire hazards. Regular maintenance of bearings, guide shafts, and cooling pumps is critical to prevent misalignment or wear. Only use Bühler-approved cleaning solvents to preserve the roll coating and ensure consistent product gloss.
