The optical sortex Bühler is an advanced solution for sorting plastic materials based on color, transparency, and polymer type. It integrates high-precision optical sensors with artificial intelligence to detect and eliminate contaminants such as PVC in PET, black plastics in HDPE, or metal particles.
Its ultra-fast air-jet ejection system instantly removes unwanted materials without disrupting the main product flow. Compact and modular in design, the system offers stable operation and can be configured with multiple sorting layers for enhanced precision. 1. PRODUCT APPLICATIONS
This machine is widely used in the plastic recycling industry, particularly for sorting PET, HDPE, LDPE, PVC, PP, ABS, and engineering plastics. It is also applicable in raw material screening for injection molding, masterbatch and compound production, or any facility that requires clean, color consistent plastic granules. The sorter is essential in modern circular recycling systems and sustainable manufacturing lines.
2. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Before operation, check the condition of the camera system. Set stable compressed air supply. Select the correct sorting program based on plastic type. Feed the granules evenly—avoid bulk dumping. The system will automatically scan granules in the optical chamber and activate air nozzles to eject contaminated particles. After each shift, clean the sensor lenses and collection bins to avoid dust interference that could affect recognition accuracy.
3. TECHNICAL NOTES
Maintain plastic moisture content below 2% to ensure clear imaging. Avoid using the machine for materials with fine powders or fibers, as they may interfere with sensor function. Periodically recalibrate the sorting parameters for each material batch to ensure a rejection accuracy of >99%. For PET, it is recommended to pre-remove metal contaminants to protect the optical scanner. Required air pressure: 6–8 bar, with a moisture filtration system installed.
